Ariana Restaurant brings East London a taste of Afghan home cooking from its woody, light-filled dining room overlooking the canal in Bow. The five-hour lamb shank with Qabuli rice draws regulars back month after month — one parent notes "even my little fussy eaters cleared their plates", and the mantoo dumplings earn consistent praise for their delicate filling and yogurt sauce. Flatbread comes fresh from the tandoor oven right by your table, and the fresh juice bar pours pomegranate and other exotic drinks (no alcohol served, but you can bring your own with corkage). Highchairs and buggy access make it workable for families. Reviewers describe the staff as genuinely welcoming, especially with larger groups, and the Shirin Palouw, saffron rice with orange peel, almonds, and carrots, offers a sweet counterpoint to the grilled meats. Worth the trip for parents after generous portions and flavours you won't find everywhere.
